Alter Ego Rules

1-Admission

To participate to the Alter Ego competition, the participants have to answer to the following criteria :
  • Born between 1990 and 1994
  • Be a resident of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, The Netherlands, Scotland, Slovenia, Sweden, UK.
  • Create a double portrait (a portrait of yourself and your alter ego coming from another cultural background).
  • Use film/video (max 5 min.), mixed media, music (max. 3 min.), performance (filmed max. 5 min.) or photography and upload on this site.
  • Or create your alter ego as a painting (max. 1mx1m), or sculpture (1m, 10 kg), make a digital photo of it and upload it on this site.
  • The digital formats are .jpg for images, .mp3 for audio and .avi .wmv or .mov for movies.
  • Uploads possible from 16 April onwards until 15 September 2008.

The creation may not be a transposition or plagiarism of an existing work.
It is necessary to mention last name, first name, birth date, e-mail address and/or telephone number on the registration page to be able to take part in the competition. These details are needed to be able to contact the participants when nominated.

The participants need to have an autorisation of their parents accompanied by a photocopy of their ID card justifying their aige and giving them autorisation to take part as a winner in the art camp in Danmark.

Every entry that is uploaded after 15 September 2008 is excluded from the competition.

By participating, the participant accepts the competition rules.


2-The Jury

In each country a jury of artists and experts will select 10 nominees. Two winners will be selected from the group of 10 through an online public voting system. The winners will be annonced at the award ceremony.

3-Uploads

The works can be uploaded from 16 April until 15 September 2008. Each entry that is uploaded after this date will be excluded from the competition. Each registration that is incomplete will not be accepted.


4-Price

Two winners of each participating country will be able to participate in an intercultural art workshop in Denmark. Costs linked with the workhop are covered by the organizer of Alter Ego, including travel, stay, meals, cultural activities, insurance and creative material.

5-Refunding and rights

The participants agree on transferring the rights to and preferences concerning the exploitation of their work to the organiser of Alter Ego in the frame of the competition and its diffusion.

6-Exemption of responsibility

The organiser will take insurance for the transport and for the exhibited works, if a work that is in the travelling exhibition needs to be transported.

7-Transfer of the rights


The participant guarantees the organiser that his/her work is original: he/she yields his/her work, as well as the rights to reproduce and adapt, free and indefinite to the organisers.

8-Modification of the Rules

The rules might be changed if necessary for the coherence of the project. If the modifications are substantial, the organiser will contact the competitors.

9-Insurance

The winners will be insured for travel to and for taking part in the workshops in Denmark. The transport and the stay of the works travelling in the European wide exhibition will also be insured.
